The UCSD Cross Country team ran well at the NCAA Division II West Regionals over the weekend, but was unable to qualify for the NCAA National Championships.
After a season with plenty of ups and downs, the women’s volleyball team is ready to begin its run into the NCAA tournament.
Nearly a month ago, women’s volleyball head coach Ricci Luyties said that his team would need to win every single one of its remaining matches to stay in postseason contention. The Tritons were on track until the last day of the regular season, but a loss in their final game didn’t stop the team from getting into the NCAA tournament.
The UCSD women’s volleyball team picked up two more road wins over the weekend, extending its winning streak to 10 matches.
The UCSD cross country teams had a good showing at the CCAA Championships on Saturday. Held at the home course of Cal Poly Pomona, the Triton men finished third out of seven squads competing, while the women finished in fifth out of 11 teams.

UCSD formed its first women’s water polo team in 1985, a full 16 years before the NCAA made it an official sport for the 2001 season.

MEN’S SOCCER — The men’s soccer team eight-match unbeaten streak finally came to halt on Friday, when the Tritons fell 2-1 to Cal Poly Pomona.
The UCSD cross country teams traveled to Whittier, Calif. over the weekend to compete on the course that will hold the CCAA Championships in two weeks time. The course seemed to suit them well, as the Tritons came away with first and second place finishes at the Bronco Preview Meet on Saturday.
