Woman Found in Burning SUV in UCSD Parking Lot

San Diego police are investigating the case of a woman’s body found inside a burning SUV last Friday, Oct. 29. The vehicle was parked in the P701 lot next to the UCSD baseball field on Voigt Drive, east of the I-5 freeway.
Five service workers visited Chancellor Marye Anne Fox’s office on Oct. 14 in response to UC President Mark G. Yudof’s September pension reform proposals, which increased the amount the UC system and its employees contribute to the UC Retirement Plan. In addition, the proposal suggested reducing the University of California’s share of retiree health insurance premiums and pension benefits for employees hired after July 2013.
After a record-setting 100 days of conflict over how to close California’s $19-billion deficit, state legislatures passed the 2010-11 fiscal year budget — including a plan that gives a one-time restoration of $305 million that was cut from the University of California system last year.
