Comments on: Just Another Flashy Rescue Plan - With student fees on the rise, state senator Jeff Denham’s proposed cap on tuition hikes seems a noble gesture. But its superficial bid for “student protection” runs the risk of cheapening our education.

Had Senator Denham done his OWN, even basic research he would know that the University of California Institute for Mexico and the United States is most definitely NOT "a property to be sold", nor are we a research institute dedicated to foreign policy. The University of California Institute for Mexico and the United States (UC MEXUS), established in 1980, is an academic research institute dedicated to encouraging, securing, and contributing to binational and Latino research and collaborative academic programs and exchanges. Our main focus is to contribute substantially to improving binational scholarly understanding and providing positive contributions to society in both Mexico and the United States, particularly in the graduate and professional areas. Our Universitywide headquarters are housed at the UC Riverside campus on the 3rd floor of Olmsted Hall. A building that we also most definitely do NOT own. One would certainly hope that in the future the senator will pay better attention, or at a bare minimum, check his sources before making such uninformed statements.
